THOUGHTS:
What kind of a parent are you? Present or absent? Some fathers who are present are better being absent because they bring abuse and hate into the homes. That’s not who this sketch is being written to. These are the fathers who could make a difference in their children’s lives if only they were there.
The book of Proverbs does a wonderful job telling a parent how to build into a son’s (or daughter’s) life. That requires time together. Work, play and rest all pull adults away from their homes. Those things aren’t bad, but there has to be balance. If a parent wants to be truly tough, he has to fight the forces that want to keep him from his kids!
We need reminders to be a part of our children’s lives, before the children remind us that they want no part of ours.
